City officials have begun to forcibly evict people living in an encampment at Lamport Stadium park in Liberty Village on Wednesday. This happened after one day when similar enforcement action led to the arrests of nine people at Alexandra Park.
Dozens of Toronto police officers and Security guards arrived at Lamport Stadium, east of the intersection of King and Dufferin streets, as workers built a temporary fence around the site.
The city said in a news release that there are 14 to 17 people are in the encampment. All were served a trespass notice on June 12.
All these people living in the park will be offered indoor accommodation and access to social supports by the city.
Here it is also mentionable that on Tuesday, nine people were arrested and police dismantled a makeshift community in Alexandra Park. Among those detained was a photographer for The Canadian Press.
