Police in Windsor stepping up efforts to put an end to protests at Canada-US border crossing

Police in Windsor, Ont., are starting efforts to clear the Ambassador Bridge, a critical border crossing between Canada and the United States where protestors opposing COVID-19 public health measures have slowed traffic for days.
Windsor Police said they’re enforcing the law at the foot of the bridge, towing vehicles still parked at the protest site and banning anyone else from entering the area.
Efforts to enforce the law began on Saturday morning, but appeared to come to a halt in the afternoon when hundreds of demonstrators refused to leave the area.
On Friday, the Ontario Superior Court issued an injunction directing the protests to halt by 7 p.m. that night, but it was mostly ignored.
The Windsor demonstration, as well as others in cities and border crossings across Canada, is in support of protesters who have been blocking downtown Ottawa streets for more than two weeks.
Protesters are calling for an end to all public health measures enforced to combat COVID-19, while critics and government officials have branded the rallies illegal and demanded that they be stopped.

ਓਨਟਾਰੀਓ ਸੁਪੀਰੀਅਰ ਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮ 7 ਵਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਰਾਤ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਨਜ਼ਰਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀ ਕੋਵਿਡ -19 ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਲਗਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਨਤਕ ਸਿਹਤ ਉਪਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਆਲੋਚਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਨਤਕ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
