Trudeau visit to Poland and meet with officials to see Ukrainian migrants

BERLIN, Germany — After landing in Poland today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will face Europe’s refugee crisis, with the majority of the estimated two million Ukrainians fleeing Russia’s onslaught on their country.
As part of his day in Warsaw, Poland, Trudeau plans to visit a temporary refugee facility.
In the midst of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he will also meet with the country’s prime minister and president.
He’ll also meet with US Vice President Kamala Harris this evening in Poland to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
It will be the last stop of Trudeau’s four-country tour of Europe this week, during which he will meet with allies to discuss ways to increase pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s administration.
He met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Wednesday, and their discussions focused on the urgent need for a ceasefire in Ukraine and a desire to conclude the conflict without further escalation.
Canada will also provide additional $50 million in specialist equipment, including Canadian-made surveillance drone cameras, to help Ukraine protect itself against the Russian assault, according to Trudeau.
