Pfizer seeking approval of its vaccine from Canadian government for children as young as five years old.

OTTAWA, ON- By mid-October, Pfizer plans to seek Health Canada to approve its COVID-19 vaccination for children as young as five years old.
The US pharmaceutical company submitted a formal request to the US Food and Drug Administration today, and the FDA plans to meet on Oct. 26 to consider the proposal.
Pfizer sent results from a clinical trial on children aged five to eleven to both governments last week, but had not formally requested authorization.
According to a spokeswoman for the business’s Canadian branch, the company is in the last stages of working with Health Canada in preparation for the submission, which will allow children aged five to 11 to receive the vaccines in Canada.
In December 2020, the vaccine was approved for persons aged 16 and over, and in May, it was approved for teenagers aged 12 to 15.
Pfizer and Health Canada have yet to say whether vaccination stocks already in Canadian freezers can be altered for use on children or if additional shipments are required.
