White House ‘ਚ Tuesday ਨੂੰ Donald Trump ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ Russia ਦੀ fighting ਰੋਕਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਹੀ peace talks ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ issue ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, White House ਦੇ official ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ “immediate future ਵਿੱਚ Donald Trump–Putin meeting ਦਾ ਕੋਈ plan ਨਹੀਂ।”

Ukrainian President Zelensky ਅਤੇ European leaders ਨੇ Russia ‘ਤੇ blame ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ peace ਲਈ serious ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ। Zelensky ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ “front line ‘ਤੇ discussion diplomacy ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਹੈ,” ਪਰ Moscow talks ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Reports ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, Trump ਅਤੇ Zelensky ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ call tense ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ‘ਚ Donald Trump ਨੇ Ukraine ਨੂੰ Donetsk ਅਤੇ Luhansk region ਛੱਡਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ — ਜਿਸਨੂੰ Zelensky ਨੇ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Zelensky ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ Tomahawk missiles ਬਾਰੇ discussion ਹੀ Russia ਨੂੰ talks ਵੱਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਿਆਇਆ।

Former US President Donald Trump said he did not want a “wasted meeting” after plans for direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the Ukraine war were put on hold.
Speaking at the White House on Tuesday, Trump said Moscow’s refusal to stop fighting along the current front line remained a major obstacle. Earlier, a White House official confirmed there were “no plans for a Donald Trump-Putin meeting in the immediate future,” despite Trump’s earlier announcement that the two leaders would meet in Budapest.
The White House decision to pause the meeting reportedly followed increasing differences between US and Russian peace proposals, with little progress toward an agreement. A senior European diplomat told Reuters that “the Russians wanted too much,” leaving “no deal for Donald Trump in Budapest.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had been scheduled to meet this week, but the White House said their phone call had been “productive” and an in-person meeting was no longer needed.
Donald Trump endorsed a ceasefire plan supported by Kyiv and European leaders, suggesting freezing the battle lines: “Let it be cut the way it is. Stop fighting, stop killing.”
However, Russia rejected the idea, insisting on the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from eastern regions before any peace talks. Russian officials, including Lavrov, argued that freezing the front line would only bring a temporary ceasefire and not a long-term solution.
European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a joint statement accusing Moscow of not being serious about peace. Zelensky said discussions over the front line were “the beginning of diplomacy,” but Russia was avoiding real negotiations.
Reports also suggested that Trump’s earlier talks with Zelensky were tense, as Donald Trump allegedly urged Ukraine to cede parts of Donetsk and Luhansk to Russia — a proposal Kyiv rejected.
Despite tensions, discussions about long-range Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine have brought Russia back to the negotiation table, according to Zelensky.
