– Air Canada says that baggage handling has improved (98%), and flight delays are getting shorter at the Pearson International Airport. The airline reportedly handles nearly 100000 bags every day. During the last week, (compared to a week earlier) a 77% reduction in flight cancellations was recorded by the airline.
– The lineup outside the India visa and passport application center, BLS, in Brampton has started to grow, again. The applicants may have to wait for hours before they can submit their applications. The frustration peaks when, after 1.30 pm, people from the lines are asked to return the next day.
– IRCC is reporting (a little bit) improved visa and immigration application processing times. Citizenship’s processing has come down from 27 months to 26 months. A New PR card is issued in around 80 days, but it is down 16 days since last week. Spousal applications (from outside Canada) are processed within roughly two years, and parents’ application processing time stands at three years. An in-person filed application for a Canadian passport is processed in 10 days, and by mail, it takes 20 days to issue the passport, Passport Canada confirms.
– Hillary Clinton and her daughter Chelsea will be the guest speakers at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival’s (TIFF-2022) industry conference. They will showcase their new documentary series ‘Gutsy’ in the festval. TIFF’s CEO Cameron Bailey says that they are thrilled to welcome Hillary and Chelsea Clinton to TIFF-2022. Bollywood comedian Kapil Sharma’s movie ‘ZWIGATO’ has also been selected for a World Premier at the film festival. TIFF-2022 (47th) will take place in Toronto from September 8 to September 18.
