– Inflation in Canada is reportedly cooling a little, but people are waiting to get relief in the mortgage payments, grocery prices, and high rents for dwellings.
– Nominations for Toronto’s mayoral by-election are open until April 3. Around one dozen candidates have already declared their candidacy. The election will take place on June 26.
– IRCC’s online application portal for an up to 18-month extension of Canada’s post graduation work permit will open on April 6.
– India is the top source country for Canada’s citizenship. A total of 59503 Indians became Canadian citizens last year. 15188 Pakistanis also transitioned to Canadian citizenship in 2022.
– A Toronto police constable (49) is suspended, with pay, after he was caught driving impaired in the downtown area last night. He also faces charges for hitting a parked vehicle, not remaining at the scene, and refusing to give a breath sample to the police.
– 1 person was killed, and 2 others injured in 2 different shootings in Mississauga last night.
– 1 person was killed, and 3 others were injured in 2 shooting and one stabbing incidents last night in Toronto.
