(Satpal Singh Johal) – It is the 325th day, November 21 of this year. 41st day from today will be the beginning of another Year.

After an incident in Cardinal Leger Secondary (Catholic) School in Brampton downtown on November 9, three teenaged female students were arrested and charged for assaulting an investigating police officer.

OPP is investigating a triple shooting in the Airport Road and Mayfield Road in Caledon last night. Police say, 1 man was found dead on the spot and 2 women are seriously injured.

Under its International Languages Program (ILP), PDSB’s senior administration is planning to offer weekly classes for Punjabi and Hindi in Louise Arbor Secondary School (in Brampton’s ward 9) from the next education year. Castlebrooke, Sandalwood and Harold Brathwaite secondary schools are already offering ILP for the students. Weekly (free) classes (every Saturday) run each year from September to June. Through the international languages program, students learn and develop reading, speaking and writing skills in 23 different international languages, including Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu. At secondary level, students can earn up to 3 credits for completion of the course. New from next year, elementary students will receive a PDSB certificate of course completion.

Students should never access social media platforms such as TikTok, Snap Chat, Discourse, Chat groups etc. during the school hours. Consequently, any inappropriate behavior/communication or posts will happen after school hours (from home!). School managements frequently deal with incidents of hurt and harm because of inappropriate online posts from the fake accounts. Families (parents) are asked to closely supervise their kids’ activities on their devices at home. The parents are also advised to limit or eliminate the use of social media platforms all-together, until children start demonstrating a level of maturity and responsibility to be safe digital users. As a result of few recent incidents of inappropriate posts on the social media, all parents are requested to report inappropriate posts on the social media platforms, including TikTok. Silence, no-action or ignorance will not help; rather such behavior will continue to create disturbance in the schools and harm for the communities.

Next parent council meeting in Castlemore Public School (Brampton’s ward 10) will take place tomorrow at 6.30 pm. Parents are invited to contribute their ideas and connect with the staff and other parents.
