(Satpal Singh Johal) Welcome to the 48th day, February 17 of 2024.
*Brampton city staff are planning to relaunch its (modified) Residential Rental Licensing (RRL) Pilot Program next month. RRL was temporarily withdrawn later last month to make some changes to it. The Pilot originally came into effect on Jan. 1, 2024.
*To get feedback from the Property Owners, Tenants, and Residents, Brampton’s Mayor Patrick Brown will host a community Telephone town hall on February 22 from 8 pm to 9 pm to discuss controversial RRL. For registering to get a call to join, visit this website: https://letsconnect.brampton.ca/rrl
*Brampton’s RRL requires property owners in Wards 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7 to obtain a license from the city and keep paying an annual fee.
*PDSB actively hires qualified classroom instructors for its International Languages program. This program provides 24 languages, including Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, Sanskrit, Tamil, Sinhalese, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Farsi. Priority is given to applicants (Teachers) holding certificates from the Ontario College of Teachers (OTC) and teaching experience.
*Schools in Brampton, Mississauga, and Caledon will remain closed on Monday for Family Day in Ontario.
*Parents/guardians will continue to monitor/supervise their children’s social media (ab)use (especially chat groups) through cellphones or other devices connected to internet at home, including in bedrooms. Be safe, and Happy Long Weekend.
