Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been convicted by a US court of murdering George Floyd. He has been convicted after 11 arguments in court. Chauvin is the same police officer who knelt on the neck of a black Floyd and kept him on the ground until he stopped breathing. This was followed by worldwide protests and violent incidents over the issue. At the same time, there is talk of discrimination against black people in the United States.
Chauvin, 45, could face up to several decades in jail. People took to the streets of downtown soon after hearing the decision, many with banners in their hands. Floyd’s family gathered in the Minneapolis conference room. The Floyd family’s attorney, Ben Krump, called it a victory for humanity over inhumanity. Justice triumphs over injustice.
