Brampton, ON – Regional Councillor Gurpreet Singh Dhillon has written to the Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) authority CAO, Deb Martin-Downs, in regards to the recently released Punjabi language flyer that contained gross spelling, grammar and translation errors.
Following a number of complaints from the local Punjabi community and media, Councillor Dhillon requested a direct public apology from the CVC, and to also outline all remedies going forward in order for this not to occur again. Though the City of Brampton is a partner of the CVC, as are numerous of municipalities, the flyer was designed, printed, and circulated solely by the CVC. “Thank you to everyone who contacted me in regards to this matter, I am confident that the CVC will take the appropriate steps going forward in correcting these errors,” said Councillor Dhillon. “Government agencies such as the CVC must take all precautions in order to respect our local ethnic communities and their languages.”
