According to a new poll, over two-thirds of Canadians believe the Russian invasion of Ukraine has the potential to escalate into a global conflict.
A little more than half of those polled agreed that Canada should provide military assistance to Ukraine in its fight against Russia as part of a joint North Atlantic Treaty Organization force.
Leger conducted an online poll of 1,519 Canadians and 1,004 Americans from Feb. 25 to 27, immediately after Moscow’s attack began.
Because internet polls are not considered truly random samples, no margin of error can be ascribed to the survey.
Unsurprisingly, 89 percent of Canadians surveyed stated they were concerned about Russia invading Ukraine in some way.
When asked which side they supported in the crisis, 83% of Canadians picked Ukraine, compared to 71% of Americans who said they supported the target of Moscow’s assault.
