COVID-19 : 742 hospitalizations and 20 deaths in Ontario

On Thursday, Ontario reported 742 patients in hospitals with COVID-19 and 20 more deaths tied to the virus, a day after the ministry declared it would eliminate mask requirements in most indoor settings.
Today’s reported hospitalizations are down from 751 reported on Wednesday and 834 reported at this time last week.
According to the Ministry of Health, approximately 46% of people sent to hospitals were seeking treatment for COVID-19 symptoms directly, while 54% were treated for other reasons but later tested positive for the virus.
There are 244 patients in intensive care among the hospitalizations reported, up from 241 on Wednesday but down from 267 one week ago.
Around 79 percent of individuals admitted to ICU were there expressly for the virus, while the rest were there for other reasons but tested positive for the infection.
