A four-alarm fire broke out overnight at a mixed-use building in Toronto’s Little Italy neighbourhood, prompting the Ontario Fire Marshal to initiate an investigation.
Firefighters arrived at 615 College Street, near Clinton Street, soon before 1 a.m. on Friday to put out a fire at a commercial and residential structure.
Restaurant is located on the first floor, while apartments are located on the upper floors of the three-story building.
Heavy smoke and flames were seen pouring from the back of the structure and through the top, according to Toronto firefighters.
At its peak, the fire was a four-alarm emergency, with between 100 and 120 firefighters and 30 fire vehicles on the site.
At roughly 3 a.m., crews were able to get the fire under control.
There were no injuries among the occupants or the firefighters.
The fire department in Toronto claims that the blaze was tackled from all sides and that primary and secondary searches were successful.
An inquiry into the cause of the incident will be launched by the Ontario Fire Marshal and Toronto fire investigators.

ਤਿੰਨ ਮੰਜ਼ਿਲਾ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੇਠਲੀ ਮੰਜ਼ਿਲ ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਰਲੀਆਂ ਮੰਜ਼ਿਲਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਅਪਾਰਟਮੈਂਟ ਹਨ।
ਟੋਰਾਂਟੋ ਫਾਇਰ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਅਤੇ ਛੱਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਭਾਰੀ ਧੂੰਏਂ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਪਟਾਂ ‘ਚ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀ ਘਿਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
ਅੱਗ ਚਾਰ-ਅਲਾਰਮ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਤੱਕ ਵਧ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ 100 ਤੋਂ 120 ਫਾਇਰਫਾਈਟਰਜ਼, ਅਤੇ 30 ਟਰੱਕ ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਸਿਖਰ ‘ਤੇ ਘਟਨਾ ਸਥਾਨ ‘ਤੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੋਏ।
ਅਮਲੇ ਨੇ ਕਰੀਬ 3 ਵਜੇ ਅੱਗ ‘ਤੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਪਾਇਆ।
