MONTREAL (AP) — While not getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is generally described as a personal choice, a new study reveals that persons who refuse the immunizations increase the risk of infection for those around them.
According to a study published Monday in the Journal of the Canadian Medical Association, vaccinated people who mix with unvaccinated people have a considerably higher chance of becoming infected than those who keep with those who have had the vaccine.
According to the mathematical model employed in the study, unvaccinated people’s chance of catching COVID-19 decreases when they spend time with vaccinated people because they operate as a transmission buffer.
The study’s message, according to co-author David Fisman of the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana school of public health, is that getting vaccinated isn’t only a personal choice.
