The bear has returned after a 30-year run in property prices in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), punctuated by only a few dramatic but brief falls. As the bidding wars of 2021 fade into memory, the Toronto housing meltdown has wiped nearly one-third of value off typical property prices in several GTA suburbs in the first two quarters of 2022. While a few places have witnessed rises so far this year, it’s the decreases that are drawing the most attention as consumer sentiment shifts to the negative.
Since peaking in February, average real estate prices in various GTA cities and towns have plummeted, according to the Toronto Real Estate Board. Prices have plummeted by a stunning 36 percent on average in the neighbouring township of King, Ontario, which is located 56.5 kilometres north of Toronto. With 2,730 residences and an estimated population of 8,396 as of the 2021 Canadian census, King City is the largest community in King Township.
Meanwhile, price reductions in other areas continue apace. Despite the fact that King City is a clear anomaly in the statistics, several other cities saw rapid declines in the average price of all-dwelling dwellings.
Four of them saw price drops of at least 20%, with Scugog leading the way with a 26.4 percent drop. With a 23.2 percent drop, Oshawa was towards the top of the list.
This Oshawa property trended on Twitter earlier this year after selling for nearly triple what it was listed for two years ago—a whopping $400,000 above asking price! ਚਾਰ ਅਨੁਭਵੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ ਵੀਹ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ, ਸਕੂਗ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਜੋ 26.4% ਡਿੱਗ ਗਈ। ਓਸ਼ਾਵਾ 23.2% ਦੀ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ ਨਾਲ ਸੂਚੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਖਰ ‘ਤੇ ਰਿਹਾ।
