PU Centralisation: Punjab Govt. steps in on demand of Student Body Sath
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਕੇਂਦਰੀਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ ‘ਤੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਦਖਲ
Punjab’s CM Bhagwant Mann has intervened in issue of centralisation of Panjab University. Few days ago Student body Sath met Punjab assembly speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to raise the issue to CM and in assembly house. On very next day, Mr Speaker wrote to CM and forwarded the letter of Sath. Taking notice of it, CM wrote a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the sensitivity of the issue. CM cited the historical and legal facts in his letter. CM urged HM to keep existing ‘Inter State Body Corporation’ status of this prestigious institute. Letter of CM Mann is attached below.
Student Body’s Sath statement: “Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has written a letter to Indian Home Minister Amit Shah asking him to stop the conspiracies to centralize Panjab University. The issue was recently brought to the notice of the Chief Minister by the student body Sath through the Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan. We thank Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan for this step. But we hope that to accomplish this task the Punjab Government will bring a resolution in the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha session that Punjab University is the heritage of Punjab and its centralization would never be tolerated by Punjab. Punjab government should make arrangements for the reservation of students and employees of Punjab, so that the students of Punjab could get more opportunities of higher education and employment in the University.”
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਕੇਂਦਰੀਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ ‘ਤੇ ਦਖਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਸੱਥ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਸਪੀਕਰ ਕੁਲਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਹਾਊਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਠਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਅਗਲੇ ਹੀ ਦਿਨ, ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਾਨ ਸਪੀਕਰ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਥ ਦੀ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਦੀ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੱਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਤੱਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਵਾਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਐਚ.ਐਮ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਵੱਕਾਰੀ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ‘ਇੰਟਰ ਸਟੇਟ ਬਾਡੀ ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਸ਼ਨ’ ਦਾ ਦਰਜਾ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਦਾ ਸੱਥ ਬਿਆਨ:
“ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਕੇਂਦਰੀਕਰਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਜ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਸੱਥ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਸਪੀਕਰ ਕੁਲਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧਵਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਕਦਮ ਲਈ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਪੀਕਰ ਕੁਲਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਨੇਪਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਨ ਲਈ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਮਤਾ ਲਿਆਵੇਗੀ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕੇਂਦਰੀਕਰਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਰਾਖਵੇਂਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਧ ਮੌਕੇ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਣ।
