Bank of Canada expected to raise key interest rate by 0.75% today
ਬੈਂਕ ਆਫ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਿਆਜ ਦਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ 0.75% ਵਧਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ
This morning, the Bank of Canada will make its key interest rate announcement as inflation remains well above its target.
The majority of experts predict that the central bank will increase interest rates by 0.75%, increasing its main rate to 2.25 %.
That rate increase would be the biggest one-time increase since 1998.
Governor Tiff Macklem stated that the central bank “may need to move more quickly” to reduce inflation after last month’s rate announcement.

ਬਹੁਤੇ ਅਰਥਸ਼ਾਸਤਰੀ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਬੈਂਕ ਵਿਆਜ ਦਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ 0.75% ਤੱਕ ਵਧਾਏਗਾ।
ਇਹ 1998 ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਦਰ ਦੀ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਗਵਰਨਰ ਟਿਫ ਮੈਕਲੇਮ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਬੈਂਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਿੰਗਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ “ਹੋਰ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ”।
