Mayor of Brampton advocates for a faster reopening

Following the announcement of aggressive schedules for the lifting of public health precautions by many western provinces, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is urging the Ford government to hurry up its reopening plans.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Brown stated that he feels there are “ongoing repercussions” from the slow reopening, and that there is now a “genuine basis for a faster reopening” in Ontario.
His remarks follow the announcement by officials in Alberta that the province’s proof of vaccination system will be removed immediately, with laws mandating pupils to wear masks in public schools set to be lifted next week.
Saskatchewan has also announced that, as of Monday, evidence of vaccination will no longer be required for entry to select non-essential settings, and that the mandatory mask order will be lifted by the end of February if public health indicators continue to improve.
Brown stated the number of persons hospitalised with COVID-19 at Brampton Civic Hospital has dropped from 110 to 38 in the previous two weeks, which he described as “unprecedented” throughout the epidemic.
In light of this, the Ontario government has announced that, as of February 21, capacity limits in indoor settings where proof of vaccination is necessary will be lifted, and 50 percent capacity will be allowed at sporting and entertainment venues.

ਬ੍ਰਾਊਨ ਨੇ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਬ੍ਰੀਫਿੰਗ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਸਦਾ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੌਲੀ ਹੌਲੀ ਰੀਓਪਨਿੰਗ ਦੇ “ਨਤੀਜੇ” ਓਨਟਾਰੀਓ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁਣ “ਤੇਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਰੀਓਪਨਿੰਗ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਅਧਾਰ” ਹੈ।

ਸਸਕੈਚਵਨ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਤੱਕ ਕੁਝ ਗੈਰ-ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਸੈਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਲਈ ਟੀਕਾਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਬੂਤ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਫਰਵਰੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਤੱਕ ਇਸਦੇ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਮਾਸਕ ਆਰਡਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਟਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਜਨਤਕ ਸਿਹਤ ਸੂਚਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
ਬ੍ਰਾਊਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਦੋ ਹਫ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਸਿਵਿਕ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਵਿਡ-19 ਨਾਲ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 110 ਤੋਂ 38 ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ “ਅਸੀਂ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ।”
ਓਨਟਾਰੀਓ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਸੈਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਸੀਮਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ 21 ਫਰਵਰੀ ਤੱਕ ਟੀਕਾਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਬੂਤ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗੀਤ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦੇ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ‘ਤੇ 50 ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ।
