Toronto receives largest art gift – a $25 million donation for new waterfront art trail

The Pierre Lassonde Family Foundation has announced a 25 million donation to the City of Toronto for a new public waterfront art trail.
This donation is the largest art gift ever given to Toronto.
The project will consist of two permanent pieces – one Canadian and one international.
Waterfront is building parks as part of the Port Lands Flood Protection Project to transform the Toronto area.
Mayor John Tory said the Waterfront Public Art Trail “will not only attract residents and visitors to Toronto’s waterfront, but also give people a chance to experience art.”
The Art Trail will serve as a “free, accessible outdoor museum for guests and residents alike – they play a major role in bringing art to public places throughout our city.”
At council meetings on July 19 and 20,the Toronto City staff report will be discussed, seeking approval for the necessary agreements to accept donations for artwork in the coming months.

ਵਾਟਰਫਰੰਟ ਟੋਰਾਂਟੋ ਖੇਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਲਣ ਲਈ ਪੋਰਟ ਲੈਂਡਸ ਫਲੱਡ ਪ੍ਰੋਟੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਪਾਰਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਅਰ ਜੌਹਨ ਟੋਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਾਟਰਫਰੰਟ ਪਬਲਿਕ ਆਰਟ ਟ੍ਰੇਲ “ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਨਿਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਲਾਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੋਰਾਂਟੋ ਦੇ ਵਾਟਰਫਰੰਟ ਵੱਲ ਆਕਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕਰੇਗੀ, ਸਗੋਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਲਾ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰੇਗੀ।”
ਆਰਟ ਟ੍ਰੇਲ ਇੱਕ “ਮੁਫ਼ਤ, ਪਹੁੰਚਯੋਗ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਅਜਾਇਬ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਸਮਾਨ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇਗੀ ।
ਟੋਰਾਂਟੋ ਸਿਟੀ ਸਟਾਫ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ‘ਤੇ 19 ਅਤੇ 20 ਜੁਲਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੀਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਰਟਵਰਕ ਲਈ ਦਾਨ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੇ ਸਮਝੌਤਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
