Due to COVID-19-related staffing shortages, GO Transit is about to reduce train and bus service

Staffing shortages caused by the Omicron form of COVID-19, according to GO Transit, resulted in cancellations over the holidays, with more service reductions predicted in the coming days.
A temporary reduction in train and bus service is slated to begin within days, according to the regional transportation agency serving the Greater Toronto and Hamilton region, and revised schedules will be available at that time.
It claims that cancellations will be dispersed over its seven train corridors and bus routes, but adds that buses will not be used to replace cancelled trains.
Frontline teams are losing 20 to 30 percent of their workers each day due to illness or isolation, according to GO Transit, and this number is projected to climb in the coming weeks.
The limitations in service will only be temporary, according to the agency. On Wednesday, the GO Transit website listed five train journeys as cancelled.
