SIU ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦਰਹਾਮ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰਜੈਂਟ ਰਿਚਰਡ ਫਲਿਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਨਸਟੇਬਲ ਬ੍ਰੈਂਡਨ ਹੈਮਿਲਟਨ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਅਪਰਾਧਿਕ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਦਾਅਵੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਨੇ ਜੋੜੇ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਹਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਸਦਮੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ‘ਤੇ ਵੀ ਅਸਰ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।

Survivors of the Highway 401 crash file $25M lawsuit against Durham police and officers, alleging negligence in deadly wrong-way pursuit.
Survivors of a deadly Highway 401 crash have filed a $25 million lawsuit against Durham police, two officers, and the estate of the suspect killed in the wrong-way collision. The crash claimed the lives of three family members, leaving only Gokulnath Manivannan and his wife Ashwitha Jawahar alive.
The Highway 401 crash happened on April 29, 2024, after a liquor store robbery in Bowmanville. Police chased the suspect, who drove the wrong way on Highway 401 in Whitby, leading to a multi-vehicle collision that killed the suspect and three others.
The lawsuit claims the officers acted recklessly by continuing the chase on the wrong side of the highway, failing to consider safer alternatives. It also alleges that Durham police failed to provide proper training or order officers to end the pursuit, leading to the deadly Highway 401 crash.
Two officers, Sgt. Richard Flynn and Const. Brandon Hamilton, face criminal charges following an SIU investigation.
According to the statement of claim, the surviving couple continues to endure physical pain, psychological trauma, and loss of income. Their lawyers say the family wants accountability and changes to pursuit policies to prevent similar tragedies.
