Premier Ford wants to pursue child-care deal with the Liberals

Premier Ford wants to work with the federal government on a child-care package.
The province has confirmed that it was in talks with Ottawa about a possible accord right up until the federal election was declared in August.
Any agreement with the federal Liberals, according to Education Minister Stephen Lecce, would have to be flexible and include Ontario’s full-day kindergarten programme.
When asked why Ontario was unable to strike an agreement before the election, Ford said he wanted to make sure it was the best deal for the province.
The federal Liberals pledged to invest $30 billion over the next five years to reduce child-care expenses across the country to an average of $10 per day.
Ford’s Progressive Conservative government adopted a refundable child-care tax credit in 2019, which is comparable to a proposal made by the federal Conservatives during the election.

ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸਟੀਫਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਫੈਡਰਲ ਲਿਬਰਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸੌਦਾ ਲਚਕਦਾਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨਟਾਰੀਓ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਕਿੰਡਰਗਾਰਟਨ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਏਗਾ।
ਫੋਰਡ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਇਹ ਪੁੱਛੇ ਜਾਣ ‘ਤੇ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਓਨਟਾਰੀਓ ਕਿਸੇ ਸੌਦੇ’ ਤੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕਿਆ, ਪਰ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸੂਬੇ ਲਈ ਸਹੀ ਸੌਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਫੈਡਰਲ ਲਿਬਰਲਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਪੰਜ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਖਭਾਲ ਦੇ ਖਰਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ 10 ਡਾਲਰ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਦਿਨ ਲਈ 30 ਬਿਲੀਅਨ ਡਾਲਰ ਖਰਚ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਫੋਰਡ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰੈਸਿਵ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ 2019 ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਚਾਈਲਡ-ਕੇਅਰ ਟੈਕਸ ਕ੍ਰੈਡਿਟ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਫੈਡਰਲ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਸਤਾਵਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
