Rogers outage phishing scam, Police warn Ontario residents

Scammers take advantage of last Friday’s Rogers outage, which saw around 10 million people across Canada experience service disruptions.
In the latest incident, consumers did receive compensation from the company.
According to some Ontario police services, scammers have already been sending out phishing texts, attempting to take advantage of customers awaiting compensation,
Police in Waterloo and Peel regions have both issued warnings on Twitter that included pictures of attempted scams.

ਘੁਟਾਲੇਬਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਰੋਜਰਜ਼ ਆਊਟੇਜ ਦਾ ਫਾਇਦਾ ਉਠਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਦੇਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਭਗ 10 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਘਟਨਾ ਰੋਜਰਜ਼ ਦੀ ਆਖਰੀ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਬੰਦ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਲਗਭਗ 14 ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਾਪਰੀ, ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਖਪਤਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ।
ਕੁਝ ਓਨਟਾਰੀਓ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਘੁਟਾਲੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਫਿਸ਼ਿੰਗ ਟੈਕਸਟ ਭੇਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਗਾਹਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਵਾਟਰਲੂ ਅਤੇ ਪੀਲ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਟਵਿੱਟਰ ‘ਤੇ ਦੋਨੋ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀਆਂ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਪਲੇ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।
