As Ontario continues to witness record-breaking daily new cases, the Doug Ford government is proposing harsher COVID-19 limitations.
Premier Doug Ford met with his cabinet on Sunday to explore possible ways to preserve hospital capacity and keep schools open amid the spread of the Omicron variant.
According to reports, further restrictions being examined include outlawing indoor dining, lowering indoor and outdoor gathering limits (from 10 to 5 persons, all of whom must be properly vaccinated), and reducing capacity at vital retail to 50% and 25% for non-essential retail.
Sources said, the government is considering imposing restrictions on gyms, personal care services, banquet venues, and weddings.
Furthermore, the government is investigating the possibility of cancelling ticketed events.
If the measures are accepted, the government plans to put them in place as soon as Wednesday, and they will remain in place for three weeks before being reassessed, according to sources.

ਸੂਤਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਪਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਜਲਦੀ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁਲਾਂਕਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਹਫ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਲਾਗੂ ਰੱਖੇਗੀ।
