(ਸਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੌਹਲ) – ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ 75ਵਾਂ ਸੁਤੰਤਰਤਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਕੌਂਸਲੇਟ ਜਨਰਲ ਆਫ ਇੰਡੀਆ (ਟੋਰਾਂਟੋ) ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੀਅਰਸਨ ਕਨਵੈਨਸ਼ਨ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ‘ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਕਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਮਹਾਉਤਸਵ’ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਸਿਟੀ ਹਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ ‘ਫਰੈਂਡਜ਼ ਆਫ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ’, ‘ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਫੈਮਿਲੀ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ’ ਅਤੇ ‘ਮਾਈ ਇੰਡੀਅਨਜ਼ ਇਨ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ’ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਝੰਡਾ ਲਹਿਰਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਰਸਮ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।
– ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਕੀਲ ਨੂੰ ਜੇਲ: ਬੀ. ਸੀ. ਦੇ ਵਕੀਲ ਬਲਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਭਾਟੀ ਉਰਫ ਰੋਜਰ ਭਾਟੀ (62), ਨੂੰ ਕਥਿਤ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਗਾਹਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਰਫੋਂ (2002 ਅਤੇ 2014 ਵਿਚਕਾਰ) ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਅਲੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਰਫਿਊਜੀ ਬੋਰਡ (IRB) ਨੂੰ ਗਲਤ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ 22 ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
-ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਵੂਮੈਨ ਸੀਨੀਅਰਜ਼ ਕਲੱਬ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਦੇ ਮੈਰੀਕੀਨਾ ਫਰੈਂਡਸ਼ਿਪ ਪਾਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ 20 ਅਗਸਤ ਦਿਨ ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ 2 ਵਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮ 7 ਵਜੇ ਤੱਕ ‘ਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੇਲਾ’ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਵਧੇਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਕਲੱਬ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ ਜਾਂ ਮੀਤ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸ਼ਿੰਦਰਪਾਲ ਕੌਰ ਬਰਾੜ ਨਾਲ 647 856 2893 ‘ਤੇ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
-ਕੈਨੇਡੀਅਨ ਰੀਅਲ ਅਸਟੇਟ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ (CREA) ਨੇ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਰੀ 2021 ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ 29 ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਘਟੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਕਰੀ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਘਟ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਸੀਆਰਈਏ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਟੋਰਾਂਟੋ, ਵੈਨਕੂਵਰ, ਕੈਲਗਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਐਡਮਿੰਟਨ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਕਰੀ ਘਟੀ ਹੈ। ਸਾਲ 2023 ਦੌਰਾਨ ਜਾਇਦਾਦ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਰੀ ਸੀਮਤ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਹੈ।

Satpal Singh Johal-India’s 75th Independence Day was celebrated in Brampton yesterday. People of Indian origin joined the ‘AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV’ organized by the Consulate General of India (Toronto) in Pearson convention center. A flag-raising ceremony was also held earlier during the day by ‘Friends of Gujrat’, ‘Indian Family Association’ and ‘My Indians in Canada Association at Brampton City Hall.
– Guilty Immigration Lawyer jailed: A BC lawyer, Balraj Singh Bhati aka Roger Bhati (62), has reportedly been convicted and sentenced to 22 months in jail for misrepresenting Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) by forging the documents (between 2002 and 2014) on his clients’ behalf.

-The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) confirmed yesterday that home sales in the country have fallen over 29 percent cent compared to 2021. Sales keep falling since the beginning of this year. CREA’s report says that sales were down led by the Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton areas. The property sales are expected to remain in limited numbers during 2023.

-OPP nabbed 3 drunk drivers (including 2 females) within 24 hours near Barrie during the weekend. A total of 7 female drunk drivers were charged in two weeks in that area. All accused were issued 3-month Driver’s Licence Suspensions and had their vehicles impounded for 7 days.
