A court in Ontario awarded $107 million to the families of victims of Flight PS752

The relatives of six persons killed in the crash of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 almost two years ago have been granted $107 million, plus interest, by an Ontario court.
After Justice Edward Belobaba of Ontario’s Superior Court of Justice determined in May that the commercial plane’s destruction shortly after takeoff in Tehran was a purposeful act of terrorism, the ruling was made public today.
On January 8, 2020, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps shot down the jet, killing all 176 passengers and crew members, including 55 Canadians and 30 permanent residents.
According to a statement from their lawyer Mark Arnold, the six family members received compensation lost spouses, siblings, children, nieces and nephews aboard Flight 752. They filed a legal case against Iran and other officials they feel are responsible for the disaster.
Belobaba awarded $100 million in punitive penalties to the estates of the six victims in a judgement dated Dec. 31. Another $1 million was granted to family members for the loss of guidance, care, and companionship, as well as $6 million in pain and suffering.
Arnold has stated that his team will seek to seize Iranian assets both domestically and internationally.
Iran has oil ships in other nations, he said, and his team will try to grab whatever it can to pay the families what they are owed.
Shahin Moghaddam, Mehrzad Zarei, and Ali Gorji filed the lawsuit. Some of the other litigants suppressed their names for fear of retaliation from Iran.

ਅਰਨੋਲਡ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਈਰਾਨੀ ਸੰਪਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਬਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰੇਗੀ। ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਈਰਾਨ ਦੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਲ ਦੇ ਟੈਂਕਰ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਕਾਇਆ ਅਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜ਼ਬਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰੇਗੀ।
