(Satpal Singh Johal)- Welcome to the 44th day, 13 February 2023. The sun will set in the GTA today at 6.16 p.m. and it is expected to rise tomorrow by 6.50 a.m.
– PDSB teachers and principals confirm (again and again) that students are NOT required to bring their phones, and any cash or debit/credit cards to the school. Parents, who give unnecessary buying power and devices to their children, must rework their ideas. (Satpal Singh Johal)
– Harold Brathwaite Secondary School’s principal (from Brampton’s ward 9) said that some male students do insult the female teachers in the school.
– Legislative Assembly of Ontario (Queen’s Park) will resume after the Family Day weekend on February 21. The party standing in the 124 seats House is the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario 83, New Democratic Party of Ontario 30, Ontario Liberal Party 8, Green Party of Ontario 1, and Independent. 1 seat is vacant.
– Faster PR for caregivers: Canada’s requirement for a caregiver to qualify for permanent residence is being reduced from two years to 1 year. The New change will be effective as of April 30, 2023, and will be retrospective for caregivers who have already applied.
– The principal of Sunny View Middle School (in Brampton’s ward 9) confirmed last week that they have implemented a no cell phone policy at the school. Cell phones are collected from the students at the beginning of each school day and kept in the office until the end of the day. This policy helps, during the school day, eliminate inappropriate conversations and dialogues among the students. Inappropriate dialogues over social media chat groups lead to fights in the school.
– Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. Management of the Jean Steckle Public School in Kitchener has decided not to celebrate Valentine’s Day in the school. It is more important to remember the sacrifice of Saint Valentine than just a roaring exchange of gifts, cards, etc on this historic day.
