After his mother and grandmother went missing in Whitby earlier this month, a 30-year-old man was charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
On Oct. 14, Ava Burton, 58, and her mother, Tatilda Noble, 85, were reported missing from their Whitby home. Durham police were dispatched to a property on Scepter Place to check on the welfare of two people.
Police claimed at the time that a family member was worried about the couple’s safety, and when officers arrived, they discovered objects that were “suspicious in nature.”
Durham Regional Police Service said on Saturday that the killings had been charged against Noble’s grandson and Burton’s son.
Noble and Burton have not been located, although police stated in a news release that “it is suspected that they are deceased.”
The police investigation is still ongoing, and they’re seeking for any clues that could lead them to the women’s remains.
