TORONTO, ONTARIO — A Niagara Parks Police Service officer was absolved of any misconduct in the death of a man who went over the Niagara Falls cascade in June by Ontario’s police watchdog.
On June 20, a 38-year-old male spoke briefly with two policemen before climbing over the barrier, entering the Niagara River, and being swept down the cascade, according to authorities.
Six days later, his body was discovered near the Queenston docks.
The cop was still yards away from the victim when he fell into the sea, according to Special Investigations Unit Director Joseph Martino.
He stated that there was no way to prevent the unfortunate tragedy.

ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ 20 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ, ਇੱਕ 38 ਸਾਲਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੇ ਫੈਂਸ ਟੱਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਦੋ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਖੇਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ, ਨਿਆਗਰਾ ਨਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਝਰਨੇ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਵਹਿ ਗਿਆ।
ਉਸਦੀ ਲਾਸ਼ ਛੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕੁਈਨਸਟਨ ਡੌਕਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ।
ਸਪੈਸ਼ਲ ਇਨਵੈਸਟੀਗੇਸ਼ਨ ਯੂਨਿਟ ਦੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਜੋਸੇਫ ਮਾਰਟਿਨੋ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਂਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਤੋਂ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਮੀਟਰ ਦੂਰ ਸੀ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੌਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
